Political bills that may affect you…SB100 & SB245

As the 82nd WV Legislature opened in Charleston, two major items entered the bill roster: SB100 and SB245. SB100 is an old version of the prevailing wage bill but provides necessary wording. SB245 delves a lot deeper. It seems that the priority of the now-republican lead House this session will be eliminating prevailing wage. I would like to ask you to take a few moments to write or email a short note to any or all delegates and senators in your district. (Info can be found by going to www.legis.state.wv.us and clicking under Senate and/or House to find the District Maps to find your delegates in your area and their contacts.)

One particular Senator that I should note is Republican Senator Daniel Hall. He has extended a hand and is offering to work with us on a compromise of the bill. Keep it short and sweet! His email is daniel.hall@wvsenate.gov. Please take a moment and show our elected officials that we are concerned and that we have a voice!

In solidarity,
Scott DeWitt

New P.A.C. Leader

Hello, My name is Scott DeWitt. I am a 2nd year apprentice here at Local 152 and I am also the president of the Monongalia-Preston Labor Council. I have been working very hard to talk to as many elected officials during this time of change. My Labor Council and I have been canvassing opinions from both democrats and republicans so that we may get a better grip on the issues soon to be affecting us, such as right-to-work and prevailing wage. As a result, I have also taken over the Local 152 Political Action Committee or P.A.C. Fund. I look forward to serving all of you and I believe this will allow me a “louder voice” in the months and years to come. We want to be sure your hard-earned dollars are spent in the best possible areas so that the rights and protections we now enjoy are continued to be looked after by the best possible candidates. If you need to contact me I can be reached by email rosc110388@aol.com or phone 304-216-9947. Thank you and I look forward to serving you.

Scott
